Role

Bespoke Online Store, Custom Search & Order Functionality

Project Brief

The main objective of the project was to design and develop a user-friendly website for Thomson Co Parts that could help the store increase its online sales. The website was required to have a custom search bar on the homepage, a custom layout for the product page with an easy order form, a bespoke design, and SEO optimization to rank locally among other hardware stores.

My Approach

The development of the new website for Thomson Co Parts was a comprehensive process that involved several steps to ensure its success.

Discovery and Planning: I started by conducting a thorough analysis of the client’s needs and preferences, as well as the target audience. This helped me to understand the client’s goals and objectives for the website and to create a plan that would meet those requirements.

Wireframing and Prototyping: Next, I created wireframes and prototypes of the website to showcase the proposed design, layout, and functionality. This allowed the client to visualize the website before it was fully developed and make any necessary changes.

Custom Search Bar Development: The custom search bar was one of the key features of the website, and I worked to design and develop a user-friendly and intuitive search bar that would make it easy for customers to find the products they are looking for. The search bar was integrated into the homepage, with relevant suggestions appearing as customers type.

Custom Product Page Layout: The product page was given a custom layout that made it simple and convenient for customers to order products online. On the left the product name, part number# and relevant details, with a simple order form below to quickly capture the customer’s order. On the right, the product image(s). This approach led to a very good conversion rate for my clients, as the customers didn’t have to click any extra buttons to checkout — everything was done on one page.

Bespoke Design: The bespoke design of the website was created to make it stand out from other hardware stores. The design was modern and attractive, with a focus on simplicity and functionality. The website was also designed to be responsive, ensuring that it would be accessible and easy to use on any device.

SEO Optimization: To help Thomson Co Parts rank locally among other hardware stores, I optimized the website for search engines using relevant keywords and meta descriptions. This helped to improve the website’s visibility and attract more traffic.

Testing and Launch: After the website was fully developed, I conducted thorough testing to ensure that it was functioning as intended. Once the testing was complete, the website was launched and made publicly available.

Continuous Improvement: To ensure that the website continues to meet the needs of Thomson Co Parts and its customers, I provide ongoing support and maintenance services to make any necessary updates and improvements.
